He hails from a planet far far away, his origin can be traced to Antoine Saint Exupery, a French aristocratic whose version of the famous Prince can be seen on French currency.
In our Singapore version, the script is written by the late Kuo Pao Kun– co-founder of The Theatre Practice and recipient of NAC’s Cultural Medallion for theatre.
There will be a total of 5 songs in the play- composed and written by Xiao Han, Julian Wong and Mark Chan, well-known names in the theatre and music industries here.
The actors- you would have seen them on stage before if you have managed to catch Lao Jiu The Musical-we feature an international cast:
Catherine Wong- from Singapore
Lin Xuan- from China
Wah Wah- from Hong Kong
and all of them are our resident artistes.
This play is directed by Kuo Jian Hong, the Artistic Director of The Theatre Practice who is probably inspired by her young daughter to direct a play written by her father.
Day I Met the Prince has been our staple for decades (in our school touring repertoire) and this is the first time we are bringing it to a theatre. If you have watched it during your school assembly in your school days, do not miss the chance to relive these cherished memories.
Day I Met The Prince will be performed at SOTA Studio Theatre from 30 Aug-2 Sep 2012, under the Kuo Pao Kun Festival 2012.
