This was the 3rd year Practice Theatre Camp has been running, which ended on a high note last week. Conducted in Mandarin, the 3-day camp was held daily from 19 – 21 June, 9am – 9pm. This year’s camp saw a diverse range of theatre enthusiasts of all ages, from 15 years old all the way to 64! Held once again at LASALLE College of the Arts, participants were exposed to an all-rounded theatre experience, learning about stage design, acting and directing from 3 guest teachers.
Our esteemed guest teachers are:
– Kuo Jing Hong, physical/dance theatre choreographer/director (Singapore)
– Chen Szu-feng, Head of Design at University of New Hampshire (Taiwan-USA)
– Wang Chia-ming, General Director of Shakespeare’s Wild Sisters Group (Taiwan)
Let’s see what our 3 guest teachers put the participants through…
During the opening dialogue session on Day 1, the guest teachers got to know the participants more. They also shared their own experiences in theatre, providing valuable insights on the various aspects of the art form.
Here’s some action from Chia-ming’s class…
A badminton match? Where are the rackets and shuttlecock?
Chia Ming remind us a very important concept in performance, the relationship between oneself, fellow actors, and the space.
Let’s move on to Szu-feng’s stage design class and learn some interesting facts about colours, shapes and lines.
Let’s all get physical with Jing Hong!
At the end of 3 long days, we finally concluded the camp. But before that, we had a wrap-up discussion session… where we shared our thoughts, feedback and even jokes!
Before we leave LASALLE, let’s take a group photo!
Of course, we must have the wrap up party back at The Theatre Practice to end our camp with a bang!
Thank you to all teachers, participants and staff for making Practice Theatre Camp 2012 a huge success once again. Till next year, take care and keep the theatre spirit alive!
