Day One : 18 Feb
讲解与示范 Briefing & Demonstration
Registration started on an early Saturday morning as schools of Primary student participants and their teachers started streaming in continuously from 8am for our Briefing & Demonstration session. For the registration staff, our day just kicked into high gear as we got busy, checking student passes, handling out competition guides and getting them settled into the Lecture Theatres. Secondary student participants came later for the afternoon session.
Our experienced TTP actors explained the “game and rules” of Story Challenge, and what makes a good story. Even though creativity has no rules or boundaries, and we encouraged students to think “outside the box”, understanding the format of play is important in shaping a complete story within a short stipulated preparation time of just 15 minutes and delivering a 3 to 4 minutes performance.
During the demonstration, our actors managed to convince a brave young man from Northland Primary school to join them on stage and show the rest of the competitors how it’s done. We were utterly impressed with his enthusiastic and energetic performance!
After the exciting performance, we broke into smaller groups and went to the classrooms to practice. Everyone got to try their hands at improvisational storytelling. Our Education & Outreach Director, Melissa Leung gave some last minute tips on what are the essential elements that make up a good story.
Students cracked their brains to come up with the most interesting stories they could think of…
