SHINE OMY Showtime contest!

Simply send in the events photos/videos, and write a short text description of 50 to 100 words. Participants stand to win prizes and goodies bag. A total 30 prizes to give away.

June 30th, 2008 shineSHINE 2008 Official Launch was held at Bugis Junction on 28 June 2008. It was a blast with a myraid of performances and activities going on! We had Japanese Street Performer Hiryo who Presented Variete’ Street Theatre (SHINE’s Marquee Event) entertaining the crowd, bringing laughter to them.
Singer Wu Jia Hui and his Mentor Eric Ng and Xiao Han were also there to share their life stories with the crowd. Jia Hui also sang 3 songs together with Eric on guitar.
Were you there at bugis junction? Send in any photos, yes i mean any!( Mascot, performances, NYF game show etc…) you had taken during the Launch to shine@youth.sg and stand a chance to win great prizes! Selected photos would also be published on our blog!

Stars of SHINE
June 26th, 2008 shineStars of SHINE (SOS) is a youth role model award inaugurated in 2007 with the aim of highlighting youths who have inspiring life-changing experiences that could inspire their peers, profile them as positive role models and showcase youth that have made difference to other youth around themThe three award categories under SOS 2008 are; Youth Inspiration Award, Youth Venturer Award and Youth Contribution Award.
SOS 2008 is open to Singapore Youth aged between 13-35, foreign students and expatriates residing in Singapore. Hear from the “Shining Stars” as they share their life stories and add sparkles to the lives of people around them, inspiring them to take on more active roles in the community, overcome challenges in life and take bold steps to realise their dreams.
Show the “Shining Stars” your appreciation and encouragement by voting for them! Let your favourite “Star” emerge as the Most Favourite Nominee.

SHINE 2008 Festival Opening

Venue: Bugis Junction Mall
Immerse in the celebration of youth with a myriad of activities at Bugis Junction! Be entertained by young close-up magician, Jonathan, as he uses magic to relate and share his magical experience with the audience. Award-winning street Japanese performer, Hiyro will also be presenting Variete Street Theatre, the first and onlyAll-Japanese streetperformance festival outside Japan. Catch a live human jukebox, A Cappella techniques and innovative recycled materials percussion talent showcase. Witness the efforts of youth from 13 schools as they connect together to break a record. Be engaged in a live forum game show and test the limits of your wits. Come forth to battle your opponents in a LEGO Indiana Jones and Incredible Hulk gameplay.
Catch special guest appearances by talented singer Wu Jia Hui who will belt out new songs from his album and a duet with Kimberly, a thirteen year old girl who is passionate about performing arts. Local Composer Eric Ng and lyricist Xiao Han will also share their inspiring life experience.

SHINE aims to; i) to showcase and develop youth talent and skills; ii) Facilitate and profile youth community contribution; and iii) Project a positive youth image and profile young role models. The festival is truly all about youth, for youth. Over 200,000 Youth were part of SHINE 2007. From 28 June to 02 August 2008, you will see youth showcase their diverse talents and skills, shape a better future for the community and celebrate young role models.
