SGSMD 2011 may have concluded on 25 June, but loose ends had to be tied up before we could conduct the draw, sorry to have kept everyone waiting!
The draw was conducted on 29 August by Ms Roseline Yew, Content Editor of omy.sg, under the witness of Tan Siew Kian and Janet Ong, both from the omy.sg team as well.
Wanna know who the lucky winner is? Watch the clip!
Congratulations to Calvin Timothy Leong, the lucky winner of a 3D2N Free & Easy Hong Kong holiday for 2 persons, courtesy of Hong Kong Tourism Board!
Incidentally, Calvin Timo (as he’s affectionately known) was also one of the bloggers who volunteered to be in the SGSMD committee to help plan the activities! As the saying goes, what goes around comes around, and in this case, Calvin’s philanthropic spirit is rewarded in kind!
Thank you once again to all who participated in SGSMD in one way or another! Till we meet again in 2012, keep the Social Media spirit alive!

Introducing: Happy Chardes

We serve wholesome, home-baked cakes using only the freshest ingredients.
From traditional all-time favourites to exciting new creations, we pride ourselves in bringing healthy, quality cakes to people of all ages at an affordable price.
Made with love, filled with happiness and delivered with joy! Try one today!
Our Products
Our signature cake is the Carrot, Pecan & Walnut Cake. Unlike the competition, which typically only has Walnuts in their carrot cake, ours come packed with Pecans as well! The nutty combination of crunchy roasted Pecans and Walnuts, freshly grated Carrots and a light cream cheese with a tinge of Lemon zest, makes this an all-time favourite.

What is more meaningful than a heart-shaped Red Velvet Cake to express your love to someone special? Topped with light vanilla cream instead of sugar icing, the subtle vanilla aroma is a perfect complement to the light chocolate sponge bathed in a sexy red colour.

We have many other favourites such as the Chocolate Banana cake and Apple Raisin cake for your guilt-free indulgence, anytime!
How has Social Media helped the business of Happy Chardes?
As a start-up, resources are limited, especially marketing dollars. Social media has helped defray some of our marketing costs by allowing us to reach a wide audience at a relatively low cost. This would have been harder to achieve in the past when the adoption of social media was less prevalent and its reach less wide.
What will they be doing at Singapore Social Media Day 2011?
They will be feeding us with their delicious cookies!

The professional & friendly photographer who will be at the SoMe! Wall to capture your best moment on instant prints. Say Cheese!
Introducing: 1st Journal

1st Journal is a group of professional photographers in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. Recently formed in 2008, 1st Journal’s philosophy in photography is to provide a complete solution to the customer, and minimize what you as the customer have to do.
1st Journal BELIEVES in original and creative excellence. Every phase of our work is approached with genuine passion and dedication. For our Bridal services we offer services like Pre-wedding bridal photography, Post-wedding photography, ROM photography, actual day journalistic wedding photography in Singapore to journalistic child and family photography including LiveUpdate Services.
For Corporates, we offer event photography, Product photography, Corporate Photography Profiling, Conceptualizing and delievering of ideas to your drawing board. We can also tailor a package based on your requirement as well.

As the director of the company, Xian Rong’s interest in photography started from Polytechnic days and it bloomed into his profession. In 2008, he started 1stJournal with 2 other partners forming collaboration with 2 other fellow photographers with the same ideas. Photographing people and their emotions is what he loves, and that is why he chooses to be more journalistic in his photographs. Capturing tears, love and joy therefore became a natural outlet for Naturally Weddings and Events photography.
2. Xian Rong’s favorite Works and Reflections.
a. Cambodia

Some of the best photos are taken on your own time and accord. This was shot in Cambodia, Siem Reap while on holiday. I was on a Tuk Tuk while a kid and his brother tried to overtake us, it happened quickly and I was lucky to catch his expression. Priceless!

B. A very typical kissing of bride after the reciting of vows and exchanging of rings. An unexpected reaction by the pageboy was caught on the right hand side that really made his image.

C. A good example of journalistic photos is when you photograph the subtle things on a wedding day. The Brides maid Tip toes to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom inside.
3. My thoughts on Social Media Day
To share a platform that is used by myself 24/7 a day, that brings me information faster than traditional media and views that were previously unheard of. It’s for a good cause too. =)
4. What will they be doing at Singapore Social Media Day 2011?
They will be helping SGSMD print out instant photos, to help us remember the event!
