Recently, a reader brought to our attention a blog entry titled “Blog Theft”, written by Holly Jean on 20 July, 2009. In the blog entry, she alleged that “another blogger in the running for the Singapore Blog Awards has an extremely coincidental string of similarities to my blog”.
Via the comments on her blog posts, many of her readers inferred the blogger she was referring to was Yu-Kym.
Yu-Kym, seemingly in response to the controversy wrote in her blog today: “Should I cat-fight for the sake of entertainment with a blogger who accused me of stealing her blog ideas? I honestly don’t care what other people say. But I’ll do it if you want to be entertained
Otherwise I’ll just leave her to whine on her blog.”
What do you think? You can check out both Holly Jean and Yu-Kym’s blogs to make the comparison yourself.

Yukym is old and digusting. Still dare to copy other people blog! Shameless!
Both of them are equal disgusting. Keeps talking about sex and dirty things. no sense of shame. what’s wrong wif women nowaday?
Er…
Not so charming Prince born in the year of 84,
What’s got to do with old and you being disgusting had to do with this accusations of Blog duplications?
You taken your vitamins lately?
Calling all hypocrites…
There’s a new member coming along..
Any vacancy available?
Disgusting or shameless, Gluey jerk off to all the topics nevertheless.
@Mr Choo
U r the one who jerk off. I am a woman!
I have been following Holly’s blog quite some time back. I find her posts often witty and interesting, with good English. It is only after this incident that I got to know yukim’s blog. Looking at it, it’s quite obvious she is a copycat from the way she dress and pose for pictures, even the way she write about sex and relationship is quite clearly copycat. I support Holly. She did the right thing by not naming the other party. The other party should just admit she is a copycat and say sorry.
yu-kym’s blog is just a boring version (appeals to cheekopeks maybe).
If I were holly I’ll just take no notice of it.
So far I’ve only seen insults and subjective opinions posted instead of ANY kind of evidence to the alleged copying or theft. Yet people assume that I’m guilty. This is why the jury system will never work in Singapore: here, people are assumed to be guilty until proven innocent while in the US people are assumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
As the Chinese proverb goes: pigs are afraid of becoming fat, people are afraid of becoming successful. This mean a healthy pig will be killed and eaten; a successful person will be a target.
No, I’m not guilty of theft; I’m guilty of being successful.
I’ve been following Holly Jean’s blog for a really long time and I dare say that her posts are always entertaining and very honestly original.
Yu-Kym, on the other hand, MIGHT seem to have copied HJ’s ideas or it could also be an issue of coincidence. Nevertheless, I just have one thing to say, how coincident can it get when the SAME ISSUES are brought up on TWO different blogs?
Oh, and another thing, Yu-Kym isn’t a nice face to look at.
P/S: Why can’t women talk about sex? It’s the same thing as asking why men spend 90% of their time thinking about sex? Why can’t they NOT think about sex?
PP/S: Sex isn’t a realy big deal. It’s LIFE. It’s a celebration of life.
hmm, both are stray cats in need of a good fight once in a while. How else to attract the tomcats’ attention?
Both are just trying to make headlines to gain more exposure to their blogs…
乱世必出妖孽
you’re guilty of being successful? in what ways are you successful? by setting up a shitty blog talking about men and sex? don’t you have other topics to talk about? you call that successful? what are you? a sex guru of some sort?
Wow I saw an article about this fight on Saturday’s Wanbao. Some of the comments here are published too lol.
everytime I leave a not supportive comment abt this issue on YK’s blog, it gets deleted!
At least HJ doesn’t delete any of the comments she gets, even if it’s negative.
THAT says something!
哪里有看头,我和老爷符一定去捧场!
Honestly, IMHO, Yu-Kym doesn’t know what she is talking about. She goes on about human beings ASSUMED to be guilty in Singapore until proven otherwise. And she proceeds to say I didn’t read her blog properly, that hey she said ASSUMED. Precisely, that’s my point – accused persons are NOT ASSUMED to be guilty; on the contrary, they are assumed to be innocent until stated otherwise.
Like I said, I could go on. But I doubt you will publish that comment on mine, as I note you have imposed an approval requirement on readers’ comments before they may be published. Straight after I published that discriminating piece.
Wake up Yu-kym. You clearly fall short of the standard ‘insightful’, no matter how low one is willing to go. And don’t even begin to tell others that you are “intelligent”.
Excuse me, now. That may be a tad harsh, but people sometimes need to be woken up to reality.
Save us all from the horror of reading your blog, will you?
Cheers
I am no supporter of HJ, but I love how she is honest and down-to-earth. And clearly very human.
You go girl; ironically your wonderful ‘cat fight’ partner has just given me one more reason to support you.
There is a possibility that YK got her inspiration from HJ. I search for my writing inspirations from other people’s blogs but that doesn’t make me a copy cat…
Besides, what is wrong with them talking about men and sex? It is a perfectly natural phenomenon, if they like to share their experiences, enjoy it. I like the way YK shares her experiences about the ups and downs of a physical relationship- nothing is as perfect as it looks.
YK can moderate comments for all I care, its her blog. No one in their right mind would want to be target practices for venomous barrages of spite. She has the guts to show herself to the world, so give herself credit for that.
“it’s quite obvious she is a copycat from the way she dress and pose for pictures, even the way she write about sex and relationship is quite clearly copycat”- regarding this statement, I would like to raise two questions.
1. How many ways can you twist and turn your body to take a picture? If YK copied HJ, wouldn’t 98% of the ladies at Hollywood be copycats?
2.How many P.O.V.s are there regarding sex and relationships? It normally falls somewhere into good, neutral or bad.
