Tell us about yourself in 50 words.
Adelin – I am a homemaker with a keen interest in making jewelry and chanced upon Nicole over an arts community. To cut the long story short, I initiated a collaboration with her and started our online site that sells jewelry from Canada and Singapore!
Nicole – I started making jewelry last year initially as a hobby. I did it for fun, and then decided to try to sell my creations and share them with people. I met Adelin on an online arts forum, and after becoming friends we decided to sell our jewelry together!
How long have you been blogging and why did you start blogging?
Adelin – I’ve started blogging since 2000 and it consists of my personal thoughts. And it’s awesome to attach pictures/videos in my blog posts.
Nicole – I blogged on and off through my teens on various websites, but started regularly blogging within the last year. I had my own online blogshop for selling my jewelry, which I set up in late 2008, but started over when Adelin and I joined together and created our blogshop “Canada + Singapore” in 2009. Now she and I blog together to share our creations with the rest of the world.
How do you feel as one of the finalists in the second Singapore Blog Awards? What do you think is your chance of winning?
Adelin – Seriously, I didn’t think we would come this far! There were so many participants and we just thought ‘why not have some fun taking part in this?’ We did, and we would like to thank those who have rallied for us! Winning or not is secondary, what’s important is that through this Singapore Blog Awards, we have learned on how to improve on our designs and the site layout.
Getting to know people makes us happy!
Nicole – I never in a million years thought we would make it this far! Our blogshop is relatively new compared to some of the others out there, and we joined just to have some fun and to give it a try. Now that we are one of the 10 finalists in our category, I am very excited! Winning is not important to me; what matters most is everything involved in this experience. I have definitely learned a lot so far.
Who do you think are the strongest bloggers in the category you are nominated for and why?
Adelin – All of us! If not how would we ever appear here?
Nicole – I agree with Adelin. Everyone who made it to the finals is very talented in their own respect, with their own unique talents and skills. I am honored and humbled to have been chosen as a finalist along with them in this contest.
Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why (need not be in the running for the Singapore Blog Awards, and can mention overseas bloggers too)?
Adelin – Xiaxue. For some reason I admire her boldness and quirkyness. And in my opinion, she writes more interesting entries that we could relate to.
Nicole – The only blog I read regularly is the American political blog “Balloon Juice”, run by John Cole. I enjoy reading his opinions about the American political system and about global events. I also read the blogs of several friends on the same art community website where I met Adelin.
What would you like to say to your blog readers and those who voted and supported you?
Adelin – A very big fat thank you!!!!! –hugs- We’ll work hard on creating more jewelry at a much more affordable price!
Nicole – Although it isn’t enough, thank you so very, very much to all of our friends, fans and supporters! We wouldn’t have made it this far without them. I am looking forward to making more creative, affordable jewelry to share with everyone in the years to come!
