Would you agree with this list of 20 things not to miss in Bangkok? Well, some look like first-timer favourites although there are a few I have not heard of before. But I'm not familiar with Bangkok, having visited less than three times in my entire life (I guess when something is nearby, you explor (Read more...)

Assessing Chinese-Language Proficiency More Rigorously

July 26th, 2016

The study by a team from the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) – which found that “more than half of [Chinese Singaporean pre-schoolers] are still bilingual, although they use English more often with their peers and siblings” (ST, Jul. 11) – is useful progress in the assessment of languag (Read more...)

Off The Florida Keys… There’s A Place Called Kokomo

July 26th, 2016

This post is a reprint of a post by Aussie Pete that originally appeared at Aussie Pete.

Well, actually there isn’t – although there is a place off Montego Bay, Jamaica that was formerly known as ‘Kokomo Island’, now known as Sandals Cay… but the Beach Boys’ lyrics nicely sum up the amazing atmosphere that is the tropical Florida Keys. This is really what I want to talk about!

One of my most popular posts is the "Five Local Food Delivery Services in Singapore You Probably Didn't Know About" and I think it speaks to the increasing way we are buying dinners instead of cooking it ourselves. I totally understand - cooking is wonderful but only if you have the time (and procli (Read more...)
