K3003 – The Sound of Luxury

What does one legend in music and another revered manufacturer of headphones and microphones have to do with each other? Well, they, Quincy Jones and AKG, have partnered with each other to sell the AKG Quincy Jones Signature Line of headphones. This was launched last year, in September 2010, but since we’re reviewing a few of the Quincy Jones Signature Line headphones along with the newly launched K3003 in-ear headphone, I thought I’ll write a post just about AKG and Quincy Jones.

If you don’t know Quincy Jones, here’s a quick refresher. He is the producer and conductor of the historic “We Are the World”. Now, you know that song right? He is also the man behind Michael Jackson’s hit album “Thriller”, which currently still remains the best-selling album of all time. Quincy Jones is the all-time most nominated Grammy artist with 79 nominations, and 27-time winner, including a Grammy Legend Award in 1991.

AKG is renowned in the pro audio arena for their excellent microphones and headphones. The brand is synonymous with good sound, passion in music, and providing the highest quality and ongoing innovation in the world of music. In 1994, AKG became a part of Harman, which brings together other premium audio brands like Harman Kardon and JBL in its portfolio. AKG received the Grammy Technical Award in 2010, recognizing its contributions to the art and science of music recording and performance.

The AKG Quincy Jones Signature Line comprises three models of headphones: the Q350, Q460 and Q701. Thanks to Omy.sg, IMS Marketing and AKG, several bloggers and myself were provided with the Q350 and Q460 for review. You can read about our reviews on this site.

Quincy Jones’ endorsement of AKG headphones quite piqued my interest in them. I mean, after all, this person must be extremely demanding and critical of the listening equipment he puts on its ears right?

Sound as it was meant to be. That’s something that I find so important. I don’t even want to hear my music enhanced. Just give it to me, like I was right there in the performance.

Oh yes, the AKG Q701 received Russia’s National Award  for Product of the Year in the audio/visual category. It’s yet another testament to AKG’s and the Quincy Jones Signature Line’s excellence.
