By , July 22, 2010 11:22 pm

Countdown to Hong Kong : – 1 Day

THE ANTICIPATION

Finally it is the night before the trip! Less than 12 hours to lift-off! I wonder what adventures I will have.

My luggage is all packed and sitting in a corner of my room… passport checked, wallet filled, NSman overseas trip notified, travel insurance incepted… now all there is to do is hope I can fall asleep amidst all the excitement. Our flight is departing at 8:00 am and by noon, we can blow a kiss to Hong Kong’s bay area lips!

However, one thing unsettles me. It is the weather. Looks like the island is not spared the wrath of Typhoon Chanthu.

Hopefully, good weather will be restored soon. Think I better make wet weather plans and have an alternative indoor itinerary. Instead of all that outdoor sightseeing, I should plan one that visits the museums, temples and malls just in case. The good thing with a destination like Hong Kong is that there is no lack of things to do.

Well, I better get to making plans for a rainy day and pack an umbrella into my luggage before I forget…

Wait a minute. Where’s my luggage?! It’s not at the corner where I left it?

All set to go!

I found it in the living room, staring longingly at the open door. Not yet, my eager friend. Not yet. We still have the night to pull through. There, there… be patient and come back to the room. (Gosh… I’m starting to talk to my luggage. I better be in Hong Kong soon before I go completely bonkers!)

Largest Mall in Hong Kong? – Largest Shopping List in Asia!!

SHOP UNTIL YOU DROP

Well only a day now before we depart on the journey of a lifetime. I know my fellow bloggers have been scheduling their activities so that they have packed in every spare minute of every day. For me, I’ve got some selected key places and activites that I want to see and do (in the spare time available to us), but I’ve received a mandate for one particular location that I MUST visit while I’m in Hong Kong. You see, between our briefing at OMY last week with the Hong Kong Tourism Board folk and when we received the final itinery this week, my wife managed to get hold of the brochures – and would you believe the first page she opens to??:

“Harbour City”, the largest shopping mall in Hong Kong !! So the obvious outcome of this, is that now I’ve been given the largest shopping list in Asia !!

In fact, this place seems quite incredible. With an area of over two million square feet (that’s a ‘two’, with six ‘zeros’), Harbour City boasts over 700 shops (including 50 food and beverage outlets), 2 cinemas, 3 hotels and an art gallery (‘Gallery by the Harbour’). This is really for the diehard shopper…

“Situated in the hub of Tsim Sha Tsui, Harbour City offers a wide variety of fashion and trendy brands. What’s more, flagship stores of different international famous brands are concentrated at Canton Road, providing customers with a one-stop shopping experience”.

Famous Shop Highlights : Countless world-renowned brand outlets are housed at Harbour City, including BCBG, Bottega Veneta, Brooks Brothers, Burberry Boutique, DIESEL, dunhill, Prada; Flagship Store of Gucci, Hugo Boss, JOYCE, Lane Crawford, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Salva tore Ferragamo, Vivienne Tam, Vivienne Westwood and YSL.

(I wonder just how much the ream of paper that forms the shopping list weighs? I’m really hoping that it doesn’t create excess baggage for me)
