I’ve been living in the North all my life, and am about a 15min drive away from Yio Chu Kang road! I remember going there to give tuition, passing by the area to get to Serangoon North (for more tuition). Apart from tuition, I remember a friend who lives nearby so we met at her place to head to Changi Airport together. We were going to Hong Kong!
In recent years though, I used to head to a friend’s place to play wii and have annual chinese new year lunches (curry chicken!!) too. Yio Chu Kang Road always felt like it needed some place to chill. The nearest areas were Jln Kayu and Thomson, or Ang Mo Kio Hub! Don’t get me wrong, these are awesome places but… not near enough. They are about a 10 min drive away from Yio Chu Kang Road?
So when I heard that Far East Organisation was building a mall, I was so pumped up! Finally!! A place in Yio Chu Kang to hang out at!
The other bloggers have done a fantastic job of describing all the races and photos and captions to you, but I will share more, behind the scenes kinda thing, so it doesn’t overlap too much! 🙂
We met at The Empire State (feels like America already) to have our lunch! There, I met my team mates, Rachell, William, Ai Sakura and Nigel! Rachell is super nice and pretty, William is outgoing and motivating, Ai is cute and cheerful, and Nigel is my junior from JC. Hahaha. Nigel is friendly and passionate about food!
The burger was HUGE! It’s really great for the families to share. I remember looking at the Lifestyle Team and the kids were happily eating the fries. Needless to say they were they only table that cleaned off the fries haha. The rest of us were saving space in our tummies for the other food trails!
The owner gave us a brief introduction about the food, about the place, and they have a monkey mascot! Remember to count how many monkeys you can spot at that place! 🙂
I didn’t get to take many photos because we were rushing from location to location, doing different tasks at each point. So please bear with me!
Part of the Paradise group! There is a branch here! I’m sure fans of chinese food will flock to this place to dine all week!
This was really funny because we didn’t know what to do, so Rachell suggested that we all suck in our tummies because it’s low fat. Guess you can’t really tell from the picture right? Haha!
I must defend myself in this picture! Rachell was asking “Where is my camera!!” and I replied “It’s over here!!” and then Alvin snapped a picture. Hahah unglam.
Bloggers will be bloggers. Taking photo of the food! (Me too!) But I was really tired by then and so I held the piece of chicken wing up. I later ate it all up. It was yummy. Try it at Toastbox!! Really reminds you of old times when the tables were smaller and everyone crowded around to eat 🙂
For this photo, we really REALLY didn’t know what to do, so Rachell suggested just grabbing a bunch and posing with it. Haha. We had to eat 2 different types of sandwiches and 2 takeaway (microwaveable) food! So we chose pasta. But I didn’t microwave it well so some parts were cold #microwavefail I had never used 7-11’s microwave oven before !
It was REALLY FUN and thank you omy and greenwich (pronounced the same way as greenwich time, grenage? Hahah) for this super amazing day!! We won the challenge and we are planning to spend it all on food muarhahaha.
