I want to clear this misconception about the use of WATER in Feng Shui that I usually hear during consultation. If you have been thinking that WATER = WEALTH, then you are wrong. No doubt there has been an old Chinese saying ‘水为财’, there is really no correlation between water and wealth in Feng Shui terminology. Many cleverly crafted Feng Shui statements from classical texts such as ‘山管人丁,水管财’ have hidden or coded meaning which requires careful and more intelligent interpretation, so we can’t take them word for word superficially.

Very often, the ‘water’ referred to in such context does not symbolise or equate to wealth, but Yang activities. In classical Feng Shui, water is regarded a representation of the Yang element or anything Yang. Hence, water in itself, does not create, attract or generate wealth in the sense of dollars and cents. Water is simply an activator in Feng Shui and amongst  its many positive effects, wealth is one of them. In this sense, the outcome  of activating water will depend very much on the Qi that it is used to activate. For instance, it can be used to activate the Qi to improve health or to help speed up the recuperation process of someone suffering from an illness, or to improve relationships, resolve conflicts or to help someone find love in his life, or to simply improve harmony within a household.

Thus, water is required to enable the Qi of an area to make the latter active and ‘usable’. In essence, water is essential to bring to life the Qi of an area borne out of mountains and landforms. Hence, placing water is one of the most common prescription (take note that I don’t mean placing small water feature with spinning ball here) afforded by most Feng Shui practitioners in the course of a Feng Shui audit. An area could have perfect landform that creates superb Qi, but without water, it is untapped potential.

With the mega project, the NU Sentral which costs billions of Ringgit in place, K.L Sentral was designed as an intermodal transportation hub. Most of Kuala Lumpur’s rail-based public transportation serves K.L Sentral while many intercity trains serving Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore starts here. The K.L Sentral is supposed to be a key landmark in Kuala Lumpur and should be crowded with lots of people, in other words, it should be better than its current position. There are rooms for improvement that can be done for K.L Sentral to make it a better place. The positive and negative areas of K.L Sentral are as follows:-Some of the positive points of K.L Sentral1. The traffic flow around the station is like a jade belt surrounding the waist of an officer 玉带环抱. The roads that surround the building form a circle around the building. Thus, all the qi is surrounding the building. This is auspicious in terms of feng shui as it is equivalent to someone protecting K.L Sentral by hugging it.2. The shape of the building from the top view looks like the waves of water. This is auspicious in feng shui, as the transportation sector is also under the category of water element and K.L Sentral is a centre for all mode of public transportation.

Whether checking self or others, when the question is regarding wealth, after the chart is determined, identify the location of Sheng Men. The palace where Seng Men is located is the direction for checking business and wealth.

Water means wealth (水為財) is a very common saying in Chinese Feng Shui theory. If we could properly use the aquarium, which contains lots of flowing water, it is very likely it could bring wealth. The advantage of flowing water is that it’s “live” and moving, it means non-stop flow of money.

  16. While we do not advocate the buying of costly Feng Shui enhancers, we must acknowledge the fact that there are certain stones and crystals that have special properties to enhance qi. One need not buy a big expensive one as the crystals are used simply as a medium to enhance the qi physically and in the environment .
