When I started in the hair styling business all I wanted was to make a decent living for myself doing what I love and what makes me happy. I didn’t have the first clue about fashion or anyone in the media industry. I’ve always had a neck for beauty but learning about fashion and being in the limelight all started when this beautiful dark haired woman who later became Miss Singapore in the 1980s strolled into my humble little salon located at Lucky Plaza. Billie Tan was beautiful then and she’s still as beautiful now even with 4 children! We collaborated a lot back in days when she was just a model, doing magazine covers and fashion spreads. Even though she was doing well, she wanted more and so she left for Hong Kong to pursue a career in acting. During her time away, I started working with Zoe Tay, Seraphina Fong and many other beautiful and talented artists around. After Billie got married, she came back to Singapore and that’s when she started coming into the salon again. Even though she is very busy being a mom now she would still find time to visit the salon whenever she can. I was very thrilled that she agreed to let me photograph her for my new salon =)

From the 80s and now to the 90s, here is another Miss Singapore that i would like to feature on my post. I’m very fortunate to have all these beauitful women help me through my career, i’ll continue to post effortless pictures of ex models and beauty queens.

I’ve known Celia for years and she’s helped me in so many ways throughout our friendship. She is an intelligent, beautiful, capable young lady but most of all she’s an amazing friend. I’m very thankful that she also agreed to let me photograph her with the help of some of our very close friends. The person that’s responsible for making her flawlessly beautiful is famous makeup artist Andy Lee and the gorgeous outfit that Celia is wearing is picked out by the young stylist Martin Wong. I always like to work with new blood as it adds in a new fresh element in the pictures. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the man behind the camera. In my opinion, using his lens to capture the essence of a woman’s beauty is definitely Wee Khims forte. I hope for my 2nd book, he would be able to photograph all the pictures in the book.

Although my success has always been associated with the names Fann Wong and Zoe Tay, I would like to let everyone know that although this is true, I always believe that everyone I meet in my life has helped me in one way or another. From stylist, magazine editors, writers, photographers, models, celebrities and makeup artist I am very happy to be able to work with everyone of them. 有缘千里来相会, 无缘对面不相识。No matter significant or passing, we are fated to meet all the people that we meet.
