Watching The Avengers at the Spanking New Golden Village Jurong Point = A.W.E.S.O.M.E

A friend from the United States once commented that Singapore is an awesome country to live in because you can find movie theatres at almost every other mall located along the MRT line.

The beautiful thing about this is that you don’t need to travel to the city area to catch a movie, and just because a cinema is located in the heartlands doesn’t mean its facilities are shabbier than its counterparts in Orchard Road!

Case-in-point? The newly-refurbished Golden Village Jurong Point located conveniently beside Boon Lay MRT station!

gv1

After $4.5 million and a 3-month closure for renovation, Golden Village Jurong Point is BACK with spanking new facilities and upgrades that promise to enhance movie-goers’ cinema experience!

GV JP combi1

Brand new seats, stadium seating, Digital screens... the full works to ensure a comfortable movie experience!

In theatres, improvements include:

- Luxurious Camatic cinema seats (no more sore bums after a long movie)
- Wider leg room (no more annoyance from people kicking the back of your seat!)
- Stadium seating with clear sightlines (no more straining your neck to see the screen if the person in front is taller)
- 7.1 Dolby Sound system and premium-grade EAW speakers (no more lousy audio that ruins a movie experience)
- All Digital cinema  screens (no more grainy film… well unless that’s the effect intended by the film makers)

Apart from the essential internal “make-over”, common areas such as the Candy Bar, Box Office, and corridors have been refurbished as well.

Did we mention that patrons can also enjoy special promos from now till 23 May at GV Jurong Point. Click HERE to find out more about the promos!

So how does it feel to be amongst the first few in Singapore to catch The Avengers in the brand new GV Jurong Point cinema? Read on!

Synopsis:

A Radio DJ driven to desperation, resorts to telling ghost stories on air, but what if the stories were all not fiction?

“Ping Xiao, a two time “Most Popular DJ” award winner, is suddenly robbed of his successful morning show slot. Jealous at seeing a younger DJ taking his place, he forces himself to conquer painful recurring memories of his deceased girlfriend and tells the ghost stories that was written by her on air.

With each painful memory he endures, he regains a small step to his superstardom. However, as he is about to claim his reward, he begins to realize that the stories were not works of fiction, and maybe it wasn’t him telling the stories all along…”

“两度“最受欢迎DJ”的品孝,失利被调到了午夜班。眼红年轻的新人取代自己的位子,他迫不得已回忆起与已故女友的点点滴滴,在空中述说她生前所写的灵异故事。强忍着内心一阵阵的痛,他一步步地夺回自己所失去的。然而,正当他要坐回巨星的宝座時,他赫然发现他所述说的灵异故事并不是虚构的…”

Movie Review – Titanic 3D – A classic… but in 3D!

Fogged up glass with a sweaty palm print.
Heart of the Ocean with a huge gem.
“I want you to draw me like one of your French girls.”
“You jump, I jump.”

Movie Review – ATM (Er Rak Error) – A hilarious Thai Rom-Com

2012
03.30

We’ve all heard of office romance (whether it’s frowned upon or not), and while it may not sound like a big deal to most folks, it is a HUGE issue for the main characters in the latest Thai movie “ATM”!

ATM-1 SHEET3
Lead characters Sua (Ter – Chantavit Dhnasevi) and Jib (Ice – Preechaya Pongthananikorn) are no different from any other couple in this world except for one exception: for the past 5 years they have kept their relationship a secret since the bank where they are employed has a strict “Non-Fraternization” policy.

This hush-hush relationship is no big deal until they decide to get married. The only problem? Which one of these two Type-A overachievers will put marriage before a career and resign? With neither willing to take the leap of faith they both turn incident into opportunity when an ATM glitch in Chonburi province cashes out over $130,000 baht.

atm

The terms are simple: whoever is able to recover the money first gets to keep their job. The couple will turn into no holds barred competitors. Who will literally “go big” in their career or “go home” in this romantic comedy about what two people won’t do for each other in the name of love?

On 27 March, omy.sg invited bloggers to attend the preview screening of this movie, courtesty of Golden Village. Among the reviews were comments such as “I can’t stop laughing throughout the movie ” and “the acting was very believable, with the romantic parts being suitably touching and the comic bits completely over the top and insanely funny”. One blogger even gave it a 6/5!
