“Neoprint” functions… in a camera!

2012
05.15

Remember how popular neoprint machines were back in the mid-90s? Oh what fun it was to take photos in a booth, decorate the pictures with colourful frames and silly “stickers”, then cut them out and stick them onto autograph books or the back of your EZ-link card!

Even blogger Lao Zha Bor was into neoprints!

While it certainly provided some good fun times, neoprint booths can burn a hole in your pocket at $7 – $10 a pop, and with digital imaging software so easily available online and on mobile apps, it’s no wonder the booths have lost their popularity these days.

On the note of decorating photos, we made a great discovery recently! If you recall, we introduced you to the Casio Exilim TR150 some time back, and since then the seven bloggers have had the opportunity to play around with the camera and explore more of its features and functions.

One of the unique point of the  TR150 is its “Picture on Picture” function, which allows you to decorate your photos just like you would on a neoprint machine… only more fun!

Apart from selecting “template” images available in the camera, you can also decorate your photos using parts of other pictures you have already  taken! Blogger Benjamin did a great demonstration of this function in his blog, so do take a look at the link below, and do check out the other bloggers’ experiences with the TR150 as well!

Watching The Avengers at the Spanking New Golden Village Jurong Point = A.W.E.S.O.M.E

2012
05.09

A friend from the United States once commented that Singapore is an awesome country to live in because you can find movie theatres at almost every other mall located along the MRT line.

The beautiful thing about this is that you don’t need to travel to the city area to catch a movie, and just because a cinema is located in the heartlands doesn’t mean its facilities are shabbier than its counterparts in Orchard Road!

Case-in-point? The newly-refurbished Golden Village Jurong Point located conveniently beside Boon Lay MRT station!

gv1

After $4.5 million and a 3-month closure for renovation, Golden Village Jurong Point is BACK with spanking new facilities and upgrades that promise to enhance movie-goers’ cinema experience!

GV JP combi1

Brand new seats, stadium seating, Digital screens... the full works to ensure a comfortable movie experience!

In theatres, improvements include:

- Luxurious Camatic cinema seats (no more sore bums after a long movie)
- Wider leg room (no more annoyance from people kicking the back of your seat!)
- Stadium seating with clear sightlines (no more straining your neck to see the screen if the person in front is taller)
- 7.1 Dolby Sound system and premium-grade EAW speakers (no more lousy audio that ruins a movie experience)
- All Digital cinema  screens (no more grainy film… well unless that’s the effect intended by the film makers)

Apart from the essential internal “make-over”, common areas such as the Candy Bar, Box Office, and corridors have been refurbished as well.

Did we mention that patrons can also enjoy special promos from now till 23 May at GV Jurong Point. Click HERE to find out more about the promos!

So how does it feel to be amongst the first few in Singapore to catch The Avengers in the brand new GV Jurong Point cinema? Read on!

Hawaiian Party with the bloggers & Domino’s Pizza!

2012
05.08

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and all work and no play makes the omy.sg folks antsy. So we decided to have a party together with some bloggers, courtesy of our friends from Domino’s Pizza!

On 3 May, 16 bloggers headed down to Domino’s Pizza @ Kovan for an “Ultimate Hawaiian Party” in conjunction with Domino’s brand new Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza launch, where everyone enjoyed great food, fun games and awesome company!

Ultimate Hawaiian

Jazzing up Domino’s best seller Hawaiian Paradise with a First Class touch, the new Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza is loaded with more than double the amount of chicken by adding premium succulent roasted sliced chicken topped with smoked chicken breast, toasted turkey ham, juicy pineapples and the freshest garden mushrooms.

Combined with a rich tomato-based sauce and sprinkled with Italian herbs, these are the new scrumptious additions to Domino’s First Class range of premium pizzas, which use only first class ingredients for a first class pizza experience!

Well, enough of all the introductions. Knowing what’s in a pizza doesn’t tell you how it tastes like right? So HOW does the new Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza fare in terms of the yum factor?

Let the bloggers tell you!

Synopsis:

A Radio DJ driven to desperation, resorts to telling ghost stories on air, but what if the stories were all not fiction?

“Ping Xiao, a two time “Most Popular DJ” award winner, is suddenly robbed of his successful morning show slot. Jealous at seeing a younger DJ taking his place, he forces himself to conquer painful recurring memories of his deceased girlfriend and tells the ghost stories that was written by her on air.

With each painful memory he endures, he regains a small step to his superstardom. However, as he is about to claim his reward, he begins to realize that the stories were not works of fiction, and maybe it wasn’t him telling the stories all along…”

“两度“最受欢迎DJ”的品孝,失利被调到了午夜班。眼红年轻的新人取代自己的位子,他迫不得已回忆起与已故女友的点点滴滴,在空中述说她生前所写的灵异故事。强忍着内心一阵阵的痛,他一步步地夺回自己所失去的。然而,正当他要坐回巨星的宝座時,他赫然发现他所述说的灵异故事并不是虚构的…”

Are you spooked by the synopsis?

A group of omy bloggers were invited to a special preview on 30 April (Mon) at the Shaw Preview Theatre. They were greeted by the movie director himself, who made a surprise appearance to interact with the bloggers before and after the screening. Check out their reviews below:

Camwhore wonder tool to the rescue!

2012

You haven’t seen your secondary school mates for a while, so you’re totally stoked to finally meet up with them for a dinner gathering.

Just before saying your good-byes, how about a group photo?

Oh wait.  The waiters look too busy to help you out, there’s nowhere you can place the camera for a self-timed shot, and it’s impossible to squeeze so many people into a group shot with one of you holding the camera.

sadok

Finally meet up and no class photo? Okay... =(

Well, if one of you has an Exilim TR150 camera, self-portraits or group shots wouldn’t be a problem at all!

TR150 combined

Affectionately dubbed as the “自拍神器” (”Camwhore Wonder Tool”) in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Exilim EX-TR150 has a flexible frame of 360 degree & flexible lens of 270 degree, making it a super handy gadget for taking self-portraits!

Apart from ease of taking self-portraits offered by the adjustable frame, the TR-150 also has a 12-level make-up mode (known as beauty mode in some other cameras), which enhances the appearance of your skin tone and smoothness in photographs.

Yep, the girls totally dig this mode, and we bet the boys won’t say no to looking better in photos either. =)

Enough talk from us, here are 7 proud owners of the TR150 and their experiences with the camera, let them and their many photos tell you more about the camera!
