MIXED KIDS OF THE WORLD (A ‘Facebook’ for Families)
Mixed Kids Of The World is designed to celebrate and bring together familes of mixed heritage. As the world we live in gets ever small through globalization, the merging and blending of rich cultures and diverse backgrounds is also growing exponentially. With our members’ help, we aim to gather momentum and increase exposure to the richness of diversity through celebration events, photos and video sharing and open and candid discussion.
Your family does not need to be mixed racially or culturally to join us. Please feel free to register as a member and join in the fun!! (no costs, no spam, and definitely no pressure).
The original ‘Aussie Pete’ blog began as a simple online diary of my life travels back in 2006, and then morphed into a ‘serious’ webblog at the beginning of 2008. I have a very close mate in Shanghai, Mr Wang Jian Shuo, who is a very successful entrepreneur and one of the ‘original’ bloggers. He has been running his highly-trafficked site for in excess of a decade. He has more than one million visitors to his blog every month and is one of the most recognized sources for local information in Shanghai. His great work and networking in cyberspace inspired me to utilize some online tools to develop the ‘legacy’ version of the Aussie Pete blog, mainly at that stage just to keep our close family and friends (in China, the US and Australia) up to date with our lives. It can be very difficult living so far from your loved ones.
Following on from that, I developed an interest (or almost a passion, perhaps even an obsession) in SEO and was getting a real buzz from seeing my website listed in search engines. I therefore took it a little further, expanded my scope of writing to everyday observations and sometimes the highly unusual news and events going on around us and across the globe. As readership and subscriptions grew along with quality backlinks to the site, I realized I could feed my passion (or obsession) just by continuing writing about things that really sparked my interest.
There are many blog aggregators across the world-wide web, and there are also many websites dedicated to expat bloggers. However, what has been a source of frustration for so many people, is the fact that it is very difficult to find one site where Expat Bloggers are featured and ONLY Expat Blog posts are aggregated – regardless of their location.
So what we’ve done is created a site that is dedicated specifically to aggregating only the highest quality expat blogs, and we’re doing it on a global scale.
Forget “Culture Shock”!! It’s a thing of the past… embrace “Culture Share”!!
The Global Expat Blog Ring is targeted at anyone who is contemplating relocating to another country, or is already residing somewhere other than their home country and wants advice or assistance from (or just wants to connect with) like-minded people.
This is definitely the ‘World’s Youngest Blogger’. I’m not sure if the good people at Guinness World Records actually track this, but in celebration of the latest upcoming addition to the Aussie Pete family, we started a blog of the journey from the time that we read the positive result on the home pregnancy test.
Tracking the journey through the womb and into the big wide world, we are including pictures and ultrasound videos (the latest ones coming up are in 4D!!!) along with some of the experiences and joys associated with this most beautiful of gifts from God.
The new young fella has now even got a twitter account setup for him, so as the journey continues into the childbirth phase there will be ‘live’ updates being posted to the site (just hope my wife doesn’t catch me in the delivery room with the iPhone) = this will be event not to be missed!! 🙂
